Annex XVII is regulated by ECHA and is part of the REACH Regulation. The listed substances are subject to restrictions according to their use. This list in meant to function as a safety net.

California Prop. 65

California Proposition 65 is specific law of California and is designed to limit substances that can cause cancer and / or malformations in newborns. It is administered by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) and consist in a list of about 950 substances. Its aim is to reduce or even eliminate consumer's exposure. If the risk level is exceeded, the law requires the name of the substance and its CAS number to appear on the packaging or instructions manual (warning). An update is made at least once a year.

Swiss legislation

Swiss legislation includes the Swiss Federal Council's Chemical Risk Reduction (ORRChim) legislation, as well as various ordinances from the Federal Department of Home Affairs (DFI) such as SR 817.023.41, Relating to objects intended to come into contact with the human body.

Chinese Law

The Chinese law embraces several laws enacted by the Chinese government. These include, among others, text GB 20400-2006 on the limitation of dangerous substances in leathers and furs and GB 18401-2010 concerning the limitations of chemical substances in textile products.

RoHS 2

RoHS 2 (Directive 2011/65/EU) is the abbreviation for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. This legislation adopted by the Council of Europe aims to limit substances in electronics and computer equipment deemed to be hazardous to health. Its main objective is to homogenize national regulations. It is supplemented by Directive 2008/98/EC on management of waste.

biocompatibility

Biocompatibility is a control of the ability of an article not to give rise to a skin reaction upon its contact with the skin. Molecules capable of causing skin reactions are not necessarily restricted substances. They are classified according to their degree of allergenicity, H314 (may cause burns), H315 (may cause skin irritation), H317 (may cause skin allergies).

POP (EC / 850/2004)

"POP" means "Persistent Organic Pollutants". It is a grouping of legislation relating to chemicals that can harm the environment. This mainly consists of the Aarhus Convention and the Stockholm Convention. The European Union imposes certain limitations through European regulation CE / 850/2004, on the use of POPs.

The SVHC Intentions register lists substances whose dossiers have been filed with ECHA in order to propose them as candidate substances to the SVHC list. The harmfulness of these substances is of concern to Europe. Each state or institution member of ECHA can decide whether or not to include a substance in the Candidate List (SVHC) until a deadline.

Japanese Law 112

The Japanese law 112 regulates the use of chemicals considered dangerous in the textile industry and their labeling. It is issued by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW).

Pesticides and crop protection products

The regulation on pesticides and phytosanitary products is a set of European legislation part of the REACH Regulation. These are enacted by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and mainly include Regulations CE / 1107/2009 and CE / 850/2004. These regulations limit the marketing and use of pesticides / plant protection products.

ACSC

CPSA (Consumer Product Safety Act) is a law enacted by the 1972 US Congress to protect the consumer against the risk of injury from dangerous products. It affects several fields and concerns the watch industry by its limitation of lead in paints.

Italian Ministerial Decree 10/10/2008

Decree drawn up by Italian Ministry of Health, in the aim to regulate formaldehyde content which may be found in agglomerated wood.

OSHA

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a US federal government agency, whose mission is to prevent injury, illness and death in the workplace.

To do so, OSHA issues safety and health regulations, including the beryllium's concentration limit in the air for workers exposed to it.

In the United States, California has a similar organization, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), which regulates California Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, 1986).

REACH

REACH is a European regulation governed by the Helsinki-based European CHemicals Agency (ECHA). It has been adopted to better protect health and the environment from the risks associated with chemical substances.
This regulation requires that any chemical entering Europe be registered in order to know for what purpose it will be used.

Directive 89-686-EEC

Directive 89-686-EEC is a European directive issued by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This relates to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and introduces provisions for various reasons, to protect users in terms of health and safety at work.

TSCA stands for Toxic Substances Control Act. It is a directory published by the US Environmental Protection Agency and includes all substances in circulation in the US and their possible limitations.
